Filtering test artifacts with category filters

You can use the categories that are shown in the left sidebar to filter the test artifacts that are displayed in the main listing view. You can also use the Explore test artifacts in tree feature to view the associations between test artifacts.

Before you begin

Before you can use the left sidebar to filter by categories, you must first define the categories and assign category values.

Procedure

  1. Open a view that displays a list of test artifacts.

For example, to view test cases, click Construction > Browse > Test Cases.

A window opens, showing a page of test cases.

  2. Click the window sash along the left border of the main window to open the filters sidebar.
  3. In the Filter by Categories section, click to expand one of the categories that display, such as Iteration.
Note: If you are viewing a list of test case or test suite execution records, you can filter the list by selecting a test case or test suite category value.
  4. Select a category value, such as Integration Test. Drill down to subcategories if necessary.

The list view in the main window updates, showing only those items that are in the integration iteration.

  5. To remove the filter and redisplay all of the test artifacts, click the Clear Selected Filter icon (Filter) icon.
  6. To discover associated test artifacts (the test scripts that are associated with a test case, for example), follow these steps:
    1. From the drop-down list in the Filter by Categories header, select Explore Test artifacts in tree.
    2. In Filter by Categories, click to expand a category, such as Iteration.
Note: The actual categories vary, depending on the artifact type and the categories that you defined.
    3. Click to expand a category value, such as Integration Test, to see the test cases that are in the integration iteration.
    4. Click to expand one of the test cases to see the test scripts, requirements links, and other artifacts that are associated with the selected test case.
    5. Click one of the test artifact types to update the main view with a list of the associated test artifacts of that type.

For example, click Test Scripts to see the test scripts that are associated with a selected test case.

  7. At any time, you can close the filters sidebar by clicking the window sash between the sidebar and the main window.
