Editing keywords

You can modify or update a keyword after it is created. All manual test scripts that use the keyword are automatically updated with the changes.


To change a keyword:

  1. In the main menu, click Construction > Browse Keywords.
  2. To make quick changes to a keyword:
    1. In the first column of the list view, click Action Menu > Edit to open the keyword's editable fields to change. Alternatively, click the Edit icon next to the field you want to change.
      Tip: To narrow your keyword choices, use the search field, labeled Type Filter Text, and type the keyword name or tag. As you type, the search filters the list of existing keywords and returns those keywords that contain your search string.
    2. To associate a script with or remove one from the keyword, click the Action Menu icon in the Associated Scripts column.
  3. To change the steps in associated scripts:
    1. Click the keyword name in the Associated Script column.
    2. Using the Manual Test editor, edit the keyword steps as wanted.
    3. Save the changes to the keyword.
  4. To make in-depth changes to a keyword, such as altering the description, adding multiple associated scripts, and associating scripts with channels, use the Keyword Editor. Open it by clicking the keyword's name in the Keywords list Construction > Browse Keywords.
  5. In the Keyword Editor, use the Edit Test Scripts Inline section to directly edit and save any test scripts that the keyword references. Use Manage Sections to add Edit Test Scripts Inline option.
    Note: If you create a new keyword by using the Manual script keyword template, the new section is included automatically.
  6. To edit common properties for the test script, such as the name, description, and categories, use the Edit Test Scripts Inline section. Select the test script and click the Edit Properties icon next to it. use the Edit Test Scripts Inline section edit the common properties just as you would when creating a new test script.
