Disabling automatic searches

You can determine whether or not a search should run automatically when a list view is opened.

About this task

By default, a search runs automatically whenever a list view is opened. This behavior can help new users with small data sets, but after the server becomes populated with more data, it is possible that the automated search will return too much data and make it difficult to find what you are looking for. In addition, large, open-ended searches can cause performance degradation. Therefore, it is recommended that you turn off the setting for automated search.

Procedure

  1. Click the User Profile (User Profile menu) icon and then click My Preferences for Quality Management.
  2. Click List Views.
  3. Deselect Run a query for default content when a list view is opened.
  4. Click Save.
