Unblocking test case execution records automatically

You can automatically unblock a test case execution record when all blocking defects are resolved.

About this task

When you configure automatic unblocking, the change management integration service runs at a selected interval and checks for blocking defects that are resolved. If all blocking defects that are associated with a test case execution record are resolved, the blocking status is removed from the test case execution record, and from the Defect section of the test case execution record result.

Procedure

To configure automatic unblocking of test case execution records:

  1. Log in as a user who has permission to save and modify a project area. This user can be any one of these users:
    • A user granted permission to save and modify a project area in the process configuration.
    • A user who is an administrator of the project area.
    • A user who is granted either the JazzProjectAdmins or JazzAdmins repository group permissions.
  2. Click the Administration (Administration) icon in the upper-right portion of the banner, and then click Manage Project Properties.
  3. Under Properties, click the Execution Preferences section.
  4. Review the execution preferences relating to unblocking test execution records. Unblock the test execution record when all the associated blocking defects are resolved is always enabled. You cannot disable this preference.
  5. You can enable or disable When a new test execution record is created, make the development items from the associated test case blocking defects. Review any development items that are associated with the test case.
  6. Unblock the test execution record when a build contains fixes for all the associated blocking defects can also be enabled or disabled. This option requires Engineering Test Management to be integrated to use Engineering Workflow Management as a build provider.
  7. Click the Administration (Administration) icon in the upper-right portion of the banner, and then click Manage Application.
  8. Under Configuration, click the Advanced Properties section.
  9. Scroll to the RQM Change Management Integration section, and click Edit.
  10. For Rational® ClearQuest®repository, enter a user name and password.
Note: To configure automatic defect unblocking to work with multiple defect providers, use the same set of login credentials for all defect providers associated with the Quality Management server.
  11. For Delay, type a value, in seconds, for the interval at which you want the change management integration service to run. The default value is 500 seconds.
