User preferences for quality management

You can set preferences for quality management by clicking the User Profile icon, and then clicking My Preferences for Quality Management. Preferences are applied to the ID of the user that is logged in.
Preference Description
Action Bars You can use the Action Bars preferences to configure the placement of the IBM® Engineering Test Management action bar. If you select the vertical layout, icons are shown in a left sidebar. If you select the horizontal layout, menu options are shown across the top of the page.

You can also select whether to show or hide the Mini Dashboard.

Adapters When you use an adapter during test execution, you can configure behavior by setting this preference. For example, you can clear the option to automatically select an adapter during execution. Then, when you run a test, a window opens from which you can select an adapter. Tool-specific settings override this preference.

You can also clear the default option to show a warning when an unresponsive adapter is selected to run an automated script.

Change Notifications

You can receive email notifications about artifact changes by selecting the Send an email notification if changes occur to the following artifacts, based on my relationship to the artifact check box. You can receive notifications based on whether you are the creator, owner, or subscriber of an artifact. Instead of receiving an email notification for all changes to an artifact, you can also receive an email notification for only specific changes.

If your project is enabled for configuration management, you can also limit the notifications to specific configurations.

Date Display Formats You can set the default display format for time and date. Show the relative time, such as 30 minutes ago, or show the actual date, such as October 19, 2020.
Editors The Editor preferences are useful for specifying whether a warning message is shown when you use the screen capture tool to take a screen capture. You can also choose whether to show or hide Quick Tips in the manual script editor.
Editor Table of Contents You can use the Editor Table of Contents to view all or the selected sections of the table of contents in the editor.

You can use the execution preferences to manage settings for manual test creation and execution.

Select During manual execution, ask before applying a verdict to all remaining steps to get a confirmation message for applying a specific verdict to all the remaining steps during manual test execution. If you do not select this option, the Apply All action does not bring up any confirmation dialog and the remaining steps are marked as passed, by default.

Select Do not show animation during the Apply All actionto not show any animation when you use the Apply All action during manual test execution. If you do not select this option, you will see animation for each step with verdict.

Select Ask for confirmation when a manual step is marked as failed to get a confirmation message where you enter the actual result description for the failed step.

Select Select the last executed script by default in the Test Execution Record view to select the last executed manual test script by default in the test execution record view.

Select Automatically block a test case execution record that has associated defects to block a test case execution record automatically if it has associated defects.

Select Close the script execution page when execution is complete to close the manual test script execution page after completion of manual test execution.

Select Show a warning message before deleting a step during execution to display a warning message before you delete a step during manual test execution.

Select Automatically populate an empty actual result when manual step execution passes to populate an empty actual result when the manual test execution is passed. The setting has two options:
  • Apply the expected result to the actual result: Select this option to use the expected test result for the actual test result.
  • Apply the following text to the actual result: Select this option to use a predefined message for the actual test result.

For When a test case result is modified, update the test suite result points and verdict: Select Ask to ask the user if they want to recalculate the test suite result weight when they update the test case result. Select Yes to recalculate the weight automatically, or select No to specify that test suite result points cannot be recalculated when test case result points are updated.

List Views To change the default settings for the list views, use the List View preferences. For example, you can choose to show the filtering options of a list view when it is opened or show the back link status when the page contains traceability columns.
List View in Editors All list views in editors use the personal display settings that you save. To apply the default system settings instead of your personal settings, select which list views to override.
List View Queries You can override the settings to not have a default query, or you can select another saved query, including both shared and personal queries.
Page Tab Layouts The Page Tabs Layout preferences specify which page-tab layout to use when several tabs are open. The default setting is Scroll tabs to keep tabs in a single row. If you enable the tabs display, then you can choose the type of tab-layout you want to use.
Progress Panel The progress panel shows the status of lengthy operations, such as when you copy many test artifacts. You can set the length of time that the progress panel is shown and the location of the panel.
OSLC Settings The preferences for OSLC are useful for configuring the behavior of links that are implemented by using the OSLC specification. You can specify what happens when changes to a link cannot be saved. You can also select a setting that hides unplanned requirements when only a subset of requirement collections in a test plan is reconciled.
Recorder Settings These preferences are for the manual test script recorder in the manual test script editor. The manual test script recorder is part of the assisted manual testing feature and is available only if you set up an integration with IBM® Rational Functional Tester.
Related Information This preference determines whether related information is shown by default. Information panels, such as Related Sites and Test Plan Work Items, are on the right of the page.
Test Plan Editor Execution Status These settings determine which information about the execution status to show in the test plan editor. You can choose to show some, all, or none of this content: test case estimates, attempts, and points; and test suite estimates, attempts, and points.
Test Suite Editor Execution Status These settings determine which information about the execution status to show in the test suite editor. You can choose to show some, all, or none of this content: test case estimates, attempts, and points; and test suite estimates, attempts, and points.
Test Scripts These preferences determine the default behavior of requirement link synchronization if you select the Synchronize requirement links from test script steps to test case when test script is saved option in the Test Script Preferences section of the Manage Project Properties page. By default, if you remove requirement links from a test script and try to save it, you are prompted to decide whether to remove those links from the parent test case if no other child test scripts have references to those requirements. You can also choose to always remove or never remove unused requirements from the parent test case.

You can also enable step counting in Test Scripts.
