Running and viewing reports for quality management

You can run reports to display data for specific parameters that retrieve the status of your testing projects.

Before you begin

Important: After an administrator enables configuration management, project data is sent only to Lifecycle Query Engine (LQE) data sources. Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools (BIRT) reports and historical data reports that use an Engineering Lifecycle Management or an external data warehouse as a data source will not work and are not shown on the Reports menu.
You can report on configuration-enabled projects in these ways:
  • Report Builder: Choose an LQE-based data source, create reports, and export them to spreadsheets, IBM® Engineering Lifecycle Optimization - Publishing, Microsoft Word, PDF documents, and HTML files. You can export graphs to image files or documents. For details, see Authoring reports with Report Builder.
  • Template-based reporting in ELM applications: Generate simple, document-style reports.
  • Engineering Publishing: Create document-style reports that include a cover page, table of contents, and copyright statement. For details, see Authoring document-style reports.

Procedure

  1. Click Reports > Browse > Shared Reports to view all shared reports, or Reports > Browse > My Reports to view all of your private reports.
  2. Select the type of report.
  3. To open the report, click the report name.
Note: Use Previous and Next at the top of the page to scroll through the list of reports.
  4. Select the parameters to include in the report.
Note: To display report parameters correctly when using Internet Explorer 8, you must enable the Mixed Content property. From the Internet Explorer 8 menu, click Tools > Internet Options > Security. Ensure that Internet is selected for the zone. Click Custom level, and then scroll to the Miscellaneous section. In Display mixed content, select Enable.
  5. Click Run to display the report.

Some reports are interactive and allow you to drill down into the information that is presented in the report. For example, in a report that shows work items by owner, you can click an owner's bar in the graph to display the list of work items. To see which reports allow you to drill down, see Quality management predefined reports.

Results

Tip: If a report containing a chart displays many records and is too crowded to read easily, you can use Report Studio to change the height of the chart.
