Quality Management for Full SAFe 4.5

Use this Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) template to establish a quality management environment that contains artifacts to validate cross-large-solution portfolio epics, cross-program capabilities, and program features and stories in the scope of a Portfolio of Programs. This template provides an infrastructure with iterations, artifact templates, artifact categories, and a dashboard to support Full SAFe.

Iterations

The process template for Full SAFe provides a single, top-level testing timeline that defines the unified cadence across programs. A Value Stream cadence iteration ensures alignment across the programs. Two starter programs are included, along with multiple Program Increment (PI) iterations. Each PI iteration is further divided into multiple sprint iterations.

Artifact templates

Project areas based on this SAFe process template include the following templates that you can use to create test artifacts:

SAFe Solution Test Plan Template: Use to create large-solution-level test plans and link to large solution development plans. Use the Child Test Plans section to link to program-level and team-level test plans and roll up team-level quality objectives.

SAFe Program Test Plan Template: Use to create program-level test plans and link to program development plans. Use the Child Test Plans section to link to team-level test plans and roll up team-level quality objectives.

SAFe Team Test Plan Template: Use to create team-level test plans and link to team development plans.

SAFe Test Case Template: Use to create test cases for either program-level or team-level tests, and then link to program-level features or team-level stories.

SAFe Test Suite Template: Use to create test suites to organize program-level or team-level tests.

Artifact categories

Project areas based on this SAFe process template include the following test artifact categories that you can use to classify test artifacts for further querying and reporting:

Test Plan:

  • Program: Indicates which program a test plan is aligned with.
  • SAFe Level: Indicates which level of SAFe a test plan is aligned with: SAFe Program, SAFe Solution, SAFe Team.
  • Test Level: Indicates which level of testing is in scope: Integration, System, Unit, User Acceptance.

Test Case

  • Component: Indicates which part of the system is in the scope of testing.
  • Test Type: Indicates which kind of test: Functional, Performance, Reliability, Supportability, Usability. These tests are aligned with SAFe requirement types.

Test Suite:

  • Test Objective: Indicates the goal of the test suite: Smoke, Initial, Regression, Final.

Dashboard template

Project areas based on this SAFe process template include a starter dashboard template with the following tabs:

My Work: Captures information about the currently logged-in user.

Solution: Captures information for the entire large solution, including team members, test plan traceability, and test plan execution status.

Program: Captures information for a single program in the portfolio, including test plan traceability, execution status, execution trends, and test coverage.

Team: Captures information for a single team in a program, including test plan traceability, execution status, and execution trends.
