Integrating with Rational Functional Tester

Integration is implemented by using an adapter. The adapter is installed by default when you install IBM® Rational® Functional Tester.

After you install Rational Functional Tester, you must configure and run the adapter. The adapter receives messages from Engineering Test Management and then runs the functional test scripts. After a test run, the adapter uploads the execution log to the Engineering Test Management server. For more information about test tool adapters, including adapter version and user account requirements, see Rational test tools integration overview in the links that follow.

Additionally, you can use the manual test recorder feature of IBM Engineering Test Management to simplify the creation of manual test scripts. The manual test recorder uses an integration with Rational Functional Tester that you can use to automate the creation and editing of manual test scripts. You use a manual test script recorder to record user gestures in your application, which are then converted to manual script statements in the English language. The manual test script recorder also automatically creates screen captures of the application where the gestures were made.
