Receiving email notifications for changes to test artifacts

If you create or own test artifacts, you can configure user-level preferences to receive email notifications for any changes that occur to the artifacts.

You can also subscribe yourself and other team members to receive email notifications for the changes that occur to the test artifacts. For example, you can set preferences to receive email notifications if the owner changes or if the execution status is failed.
Note: In a project with configuration management enabled, if you subscribe to an execution record, the subscription is valid for all the streams that contain the execution record. If you only want to receive notifications for a specific stream, you can select that stream in the preferences.
You can configure which changes to receive notifications for in the Preferences window, on the Change Notifications page. For more information, see User preferences for quality management. You can receive email notifications when changes occur to the following test artifacts:
  • Test case execution records
  • Test suite execution records
  • Execution schedules
Note: You must configure the QM server to receive email notifications. For more information, see Configuring email settings.

Subscribing to test artifacts

You subscribe to test artifacts in the test artifact editor. For example, you can open a test case execution record and, in right pane of the editor, click the Add icon to subscribe to the test suite execution record. You can subscribe to multiple records to receive email notifications. In the test execution records list view, select the test execution records. Click the Actions icon and select Subscribe to Execution Records. You can subscribe yourself and other team members to the execution records.

The following image shows the subscribe option for selecting four execution records:Subscribe to test artifacts

In the test artifact editor, you can view the details of subscribers in the Subscribers pane. The Subscribers pane displays photos of the subscribers, if the subscribers provide them. The following image shows the subscriber section for an execution record:Subscriber pane in editor

On the user profile page, you can set a preference to receive email notifications in HTML format. Click User Profile > View My Profile and Licenses. In the Mail Configuration section, select the Format Email Messages in HTML check box.

Viewing your subscriptions

You can view all of your artifact subscriptions in a list view. This view displays all artifacts that you are currently subscribed to and provides row actions to unsubscribe from the artifacts. To open this view, click User Profile > View My Artifact Subscriptions.

On the My Artifact Subscriptions page, you can select artifacts that you want to unsubscribe from. The following image shows the subscription page: Artifact subscriptions page
