Integrating the ELM applications and HP ALM Quality Center

IBM® Engineering Lifecycle Optimization - Integration Adapters Tasktop Edition (IA-Tasktop) integrates the Requirements Management (RM) and Change and Configuration Management (CCM) applications for the IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) with the HP Quality Center component of HP Application Lifecycle Management (ALM). With the integration, you can validate RM requirements by linking to test cases in HP ALM. You can also link development plans, failed tests, defects, and other work items in the CCM application with test artifacts and defects in HP Quality Center.
Note: The capabilities of the RM application are provided by IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS® Next (DOORS Next). The capabilities of the CCM application are provided by IBM Engineering Workflow Management (EWM).
Important: For projects in which configuration management is enabled, HP integration will only work after it complies with the OASIS OSLC CCM TC specification.
IA-Tasktop enables you to establish and navigate links between resources:
  • You can link RM requirements collections with new or existing HP ALM test folders to ensure test coverage of your requirements. You can generate test cases from requirements collections or link individual requirements directly to new or existing test cases.
  • You can link failed test runs to defects in the CCM application, or link work items and change sets from the CCM application to defects in HP ALM.
  • You can link RM requirements collections with HP ALM requirements folders. You can link RM requirements and related artifacts with HP ALM requirements. You can create and delete links from the RM application to HP ALM in the RM web client only.
You can hover over links to view a summary of live data from the linked resources, and you can click a link to open the linked resource in its application. You can configure RM project dashboards and personal dashboards to view and go to linked data in HP ALM and the CLM applications. The links are available in the web client for the RM application.

The integration uses Jazz™ architecture and Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration (OSLC) to create relationships between the artifacts. OSLC provides an open, scalable set of specifications to integrate tools in heterogeneous development environments. Because live data is linked, no synchronization process is required, and the live data is always up to date.
