Scheduling document generation

You can schedule a report to generate a document at a specific time. For example, you might want the document to be generated every day at the same time.

Before you begin

Before you create a schedule, an administrator must set the Document Builder base URL runtime variable on the Runtime Variables page.

  1. Go to the Generate page of Document Builder.
  2. Find the report in the list and in the Generate column click Generate Later Generate later.
  3. Enter the name and description of the job schedule.
  4. Enter any tags for the schedule.
  5. If you want to store the schedule in a folder, click Select Folder and then choose or create a folder.
  6. To share the results of the document generation job with your team, select the Share report results check box.
  7. Set the frequency of the job:
    • One Time
    • Daily
    • Weekly
    • Monthly
  8. Set the start or end dates of the job by using the calendar.
  9. Click Schedule.
  10. For this scheduled job to run successfully, you must generate this document at least once prior to the first instance on the schedule so that the credentials are stored for this job.
    Schedule tab
The schedule appears in the Schedules tab of the Generate page. When a scheduled job runs, you can see the status of the running job in the View page.
  11. To see the completed jobs that are associated with a schedule, click View generated documents View generated documents pane in the Actions column.
    View Generated Documents
  12. In the Actions column, you can also edit and delete schedules.
