We're adopting JAZZ CLM suite. One requirement we have is for external access by clients/customers.
Our current plan is to have a SSL VPN where external user accounts get created (these are not company employees). These users would first login to the VPN then they would be able to access the JAZZ web interfaces.

Given the above, if an external user needs a client app (RTC or DOORS Next Gen) for their work, how would that work in our setup?  For example - a user overseas needs to do development as part of a teaming agreement between 2 companies. How would they get their workspace to their local host?

From DNG perspective, it may depend on SSL VPN mode.

DNG server is sensitive to the server name used to access it . This server name is set during server configuration.
If your SSL VPN is being used in tunnel mode and users can access the DNG server with the same host name as it was configured with, then theoretically DNG client should be able to work .

Is accessing DNG Server via Web Client successful via your VPN setup?

Our VPN would be used in a tunnel mode put we have not yet tested this capability hence this post.

We will have a reverse proxy server setup to maintain a consistent URI. Users will access  the same host regardless of whither they are internal or external users (via VPN).

I use VPN access eery day to our infrastructure..

Our VPN configuration allows us to select specific IP addresses for vendor users, so they can only access whatever we approve they access. If the IP addresses and ports authorized include interfaces for Eclipse for developers than Eclipse will work as well.
