Reports not showing work items

Hi,
I'm working on trying out the Reports feature in the web ui so we can utilize it in a class. Yesterday evening, I created a project area, a team area, 2 iterations, and an iteration plan with work items in both iterations. I tried to view the reports, but the snapshot from the previous evening didn't show any work items so the reports were all blank. I tried to view the reports again this morning, and the only reports with data in them were the Work Items by Owner and Work Items by team area. The other reports in the plans section indicate that are no open work items, even though the Iteration Plan pages in the web ui clearly indicate there are open work items. Is this common? Am I making a typical mistake when creating the work items? Do the reports need a full 24 hours worth of data?
Any help is appreciated!
Lauren

I had another friend look over the empty reports, and we figured out
part of the problem. Apparently, you need to check the specific
parameter boxes (the generic defaults don't seem to work). So I was
able to get information in most of the charts. But that doesn't
explain the Display Chart error.

That's good... it means the data warehouse is correctly collecting data.

The problem could come from the fact that most of our reports, by
default, use "Current Iteration" and "My Team Areas" as default
parameter values. We did this so that people would be more likely to get
reports that are relevant to *them* without any further action on their
part.

However, this could be problematic for you if:
1. "You" (your user specifically) aren't a member of the team or teams
that you'd like the report on, or
2. The "Current Iteration" flagged in your project area's process isn't
the one that you'd like the report on.

Fortunately, it's easy to change the parameter values, and you can
select "Save" once you specify the right values, so that other people
viewing the report will get the right chart.

I've addressed the Display Chart error in another message.

Hope this helps.

Hi James,

I've opened Defect 63150 to track the problem.
https://jazz.net/jazz/web/projects/Jazz%20Project#action=com.ibm.team.workitem.viewWorkItem&id=63150&tab=overview

Thanks!
Baron

Hi Baron,

There's no easy way to see what items the report is querying... but to
come close, I'd recommend creating a fresh work items query. Then add
each of the parameters exactly as you've specified it in the report
(Team Area, Category, Iteration) paying particular attention to any
special parameters that are specified in the report (such as "My Team
Areas" and "Current Iteration"). See what the work items query returns.

There's nothing special about Story work items from this report's
perspective - it treats all work item types the same.

Could you open a work item in the Reports component so we can track this
issue, including any relevant information you think might help?
Additionally, if this is an internal server that I could have access to,
can you please email me the connection information?

Thanks,

james

Hi,

During my testing of RTC plans, i deliberately have put 2 work items which have to conflict the plan. However the plan does not show any conflicts except in the progress bar on top.

I have previously seen a conflict message box. Should i setup this somethere

What do you mean by a "conflict"?

Cheers,
Geoff
