CVS: How to import only child folders
I have recently started investigating RTC (v1.0 build: I20080618-1642) and am trying to import an existing codebase from CVS. The existing structure within CVS has a mixture of folders without explicit organisation via component; as part of the migration I am trying to re-organise slightly to get a clearer component structure.
Is it possible when either importing from the CVS Repository view or from a previously created change set to elect to only operate on children (folders and files) of a top-level folder or even to import only individual files? When selecting the top-level folder which logically maps to a new component, I only seem to be able to select a folder as the source of the import and then when progressing through the wizard there is no option to say "don't import the top-level folder' Appreciate any helpful advice. -- Rob. |

Michael,
Thanks for the speedy response, that's good to hear. BTW congratulations on producing a fantastic product - this is the most exciting product I have used for quite a long time and seems to be finally delivering something which will eventually provide an integrated experience across the lifecycle I am sure. -- Rob. |
Rob,
In RTC 1.0, you can only import folders as top-level folders in the target component. However, in RTC 1.0.1, we are improving this to include the ability to indicate that the selected folder maps to the component root so that the sub-folders of the selected folder will be top level folders in the target component. This will be available in the Miletone 3 (M3) beta of RTC 1.0.1 which should be available soon on Jazz.net (i.e. this is our milestone week so the build should be available either later this week or early next week). The 1.0.1 client is compatible with the 1.0 server so the only gotcha is that we are still a few weeks aways from GA so the 1.0.1 should be considered of beta quality. Please see the wiki page at https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Main/SCMImport for more details on the changes made in 1.0.1 Michael rob.exley wrote: I have recently started investigating RTC (v1.0 build: I20080618-1642) |
