Hi there,

our server are not able to access the help on the IBM server so I need to change the help system to use local help.
I've downloaded the help content from the download page of IBM and now I try to install it using this jsp:

But the problem is - everytime I try to access this page my try results in a "Error 404: /updater/updater.jsp" error message.
I checked this page https://<servername>:9443/clmhelp/remote/remotehelp.jsp if I'm able to connect to this to change the help system to local help (if it's installed) and this page is working.

Where do I try to connect to this updater.jsp? I'm sitting right on the server which is hosting my clm2012 application including the deployed clmhelp.war of the WAS.

The server is a Windows 2008 RC2 server.

Why do I get this error message and how to fix it?

i think there is a help topic on how to install the local help with CLM.

The question has been closed for the following reason: "the question is answered but I'm not able to accept the correct answer as I gave it myself. Maybe a forum administrator can accept it." by eickel Oct 17 '13, 2:08 a.m.

I think I found the trouble in it.

In the clmhelp Information Center is a wrong URL written.
There is written: https://localhost:port/help-name/updater/updater.jsp
But the correct URL is

There is an error in the IC, the url to download the help is https://localhost:port/clmhelp/updater/updatewar.jsp.  The default port is 9443.

Note that you need to be on the machine that is running the help war (so that localhost will resolve).

Once you install the help locally, you can disable to remote help using https://localhost:9443/clmhelp/remote/remotehelp.jsp. If you are not able to access the remote help, you don't need to disable the remote help.

thanks Hadar, but the first you mentioned (wrong URL) was mentioned by me in answer from Aug, 20 (see on the top) and the second- I'm not able to do this. Help is not leading, everytime I try to do it the server is not reachable anymore. Problem seems to be inside the proxy we need.

Have a PMR running at IBM but till now no solution.

Hi Simon.
Sorry, I have a few more questions.

  1. Are you able to get to help via https://server:port/clmhelp/index.jsp? If so, do you see 5-6 headings in the left table of contents pane or do you see about 20 headings?
  2. Are you able to get to the https://localhost:port/clmhelp/updater/updatewar.jsp page?
  3. If you can get to the updatewar.jsp page, are you using the file to install the local  help?
  4. When you say you can't get to the IBM information centers, what do you get when you try to open

Hi Hawk,

here my answers :
1. I'm not really able to connect to there ... it's loading and nothing happens - and the whole server cannot be used anymore.
2. Sometimes it's working, sometimes not.
3. When 2. is working I can install, but it's not really installing - he just tells "finished successful" but nothing happened
4. This is working now but I need to enter my proxy settings

If I understand correctly, your jazz team server and the help are on the same machine, let's call it myServer, a windows 2008 machine.

If you open the help from the product by clicking ? > Help Contents in the upper right banner, do you get https://myServer:9443/clmhelp/index.jsp?  If not, there may be an issue with how the help is configured in the services.xml or files.  To learn more about these files and configuring the help, please see

I'd like to jump in on this question if I could.  Based on your previous questions, I'm seeing only 5 or so headings in the help contents.  I have CLM 4.0.1 and clmhelp is deployed on WAS.  When I try to go to the updatewar.jsp page, it gives me a 403 error.  Since I cannot get there, are there steps I may not have completed that I should be focusing on?

Lastly, I've downloaded appropriate file too, but am not sure where to put that, or if it is even needed.

Thanks so much

Hi Michael,
I am not sure why your URL is not work.  You are using this URL: https://localhost:port/help-name/updater/updatewar.jsp?

You can download a help war that contains all the help content from  You would not need to install the help from the file.

Instructions to use this help war can be found on

Yes, Ralph and thanks to Robin.

But those answers does not meet my problem I think.
To change the access method of the help on a client to local help I first have to install the local help. In my case I want to change the access method of the help using the web browser, so I have to install the local help to the Application server itself - right?

For this I followed the steps described in here:

But there the problems described above appearing. I'm not able to open the clmhelp/updater/updater.jsp to install the help.
Is this the wrong way?
