According to https://jazz.net/library/article/811 ,CLM 4.0 is only supported on 64-bit platforms.
So, if JTS version 3.x is installed on a 32-bit platform, how can I upgrade the whole CLM to 4.0?
I can install CLM 4.0 from scratch on a different 64-bit server, but then?

I think 32 bit is still provided, but it is not supported for production usage. It shows up as choice in the installation manager. Did you try?

To upgrade to 64 bit you need to install on a 64 bit server. If your server OS is 64 bit already you can install on the same server. If you have to install on a different server, you can mount he old server install folder and use them in the upgrade scripts. Once you upgraded to the new server, you retire the old application.

You should have used a machine independent server name in the public URI as mentioned in the setup. So you tweak DNS to use the new server so that the public URI works.

I performed an upgrade test on a virtual machine. Actually, the 4.0 installation succeeded (a warning is displayed saying I am installing 4.0 on an unsupported platform), as well as the migration steps. Unluckily, I got a lot of errors after the logon to the web interface. As I am planning an upgrade of a production environment, I will install CLM 4 from scratch on new 64-bit machine.

If you are using a 64bit machine also ensure that it has at least 4 Gbytes of memory.
