How is DB threshold size calculated ?

Greetings,

In my BF console log, I'm getting following message and the value is
steadily increasing slightly every few days. I know I can increase the
Database Size Threshold however, I currently have it set at 80% of my max DB
size. My question is, how is this value calculated and could it be in error?
Is there a way for me to validate it via command line or some SQL query?

For a while I had large number of Warning and Info messages and performance
was poor. Judicious application of some sane settings for all of the
AutoClean parameters seemed to clean that right up. Currently, I have fewer
than 70k messages reported and manual inspection of the DB seems to confirm
that.

I've also trimmed down my job logs, and set some better retention patterns
though some custom classes. Any ideas on what could be amiss? The plan is
to get BF tuned up and prepped for an upgrade and this looks like a thorn
in my side.

Console is Build Forge 7.1.1.4 with remote Oracle DB.

Thanks in advance,

Keir

I don't know the 'how' piece of my question, but with a bit more digging I
was able to find out that I likely need to shrink bf_messages, bf_messages_
translated, and bf_messagearg.

Thanks
