Setting product owner based on product chosen

We have just started using RTC for managing product enhancement requests. A few challenges are left. One of them is this:

We want to set the 'Owned By' field based on the product chosen. The 'Product' field has a choice list. Can we do this with JavaScript? Where would we maintain the table of product - product owner?
