Using RTC to record and track action items from meetings

Hello All,

I am a new user of RTC and have explored some of its usages in managing source code.

Now would also like to explore the project management features that RTC can offer.

I have the following requirement:
I would like to use RTC to record minutes of meetings.
I would like to use it to assign and track action items from meetings.

Do any of you have any idea how this can be done?
Any good practices?

Please let me know.
Thank You.

Regards
Suganya

Well, this depends on how you want to 'structure' your Project work items.
One simple way would be to create a Task to record your minutes, then create children or related Tasks for your action items. Doing so, you have a link between your minutes and your actions, link which can be used to e.g. query 'All Tasks related to Meeting'.
Now, if you wish to have distinct work item types for 'Task' and 'Minutes' (with different fields and wokflows), you could also create a custom work item type called 'Minutes'.

One thing you might want to consider is to use a Story to record your
minutes, and then use child Tasks to record your action items. Then the
Story will track progress of the action items in its progress bar.

Geoff

before that i do agree with others what they have suggested.
one more way is in case you also use RM.
1. Create a Folder in RM called MoM where all of the Minutes will be stored
2. Generally in a MoM, we do discuss with all the challenges in the project , and how to resolve and who has to resolve, risk, some new task/assignment etc. generally people create in using Ms-word or excel sheet

3. As an intial steps lets import the doc (ms-word or csv file) in to RM (MoM0 Folder).
4. From the RM (MoM) which is also called as Artifact, you can create the link(implemented by) and create a new task, defect, project issue, build issue, risk etc..
5. Now all these above task are linked with your MoM. and you can monitor.

The same is also possible by using only RTC but you need to attach the MoM in to a story and then create the child WI for other task. In RM you can direct import the MoM as Text.

Let me know if you like this idea.

Hi,

I like youre Idea. Having a Text artifact in RM and linking Work Item from RTC to the Text elements.

Thanks for the hint
