How to restrict the approvers dialog to certain roles?

Hi All,

In our project we have many roles like (Analyst, SC manager, Project manager, Developers, etc ..)

Lets take a workitem "Task" and I need to permit the endusers to add only the members of Project Managers as approvers in the approval tab.

I can enforce the pre condition to permit approvals only Project Mangers, but how to prevent the enduser to add a incorrect approver?

How to resrict the approvers dialog to show only members of project Manager role.

Is this possible?

Cheers,
Jose

Hello,
This is not possible currently. Please file an enhancement request against the Work Items component if you would like to see it in future releases.
Thanks,

Hi Jose,

How do you "enforce the pre condition to permit approvals only Project Mangers" on your Tasks? In our installation I can only find settings for this on the Source Control -> Deliver (server) operation's Require Work Item Approval precondition, but nothing equivalent in the Work Items -> Save Work Item (server) operation's Required Approvals precondition. The work item one only appears to allow restrictions on what approvals exist for given states, not what role(s) do the approvals.

As described in my recent answer to this question, you could automatically create approvals and also have rules about who can approve. Unfortunately that would not help with restricting the list of potential approver to roles in the UI of the approval dialog. I would consider to write an enhancement request.
