Moving RTC + QM to new servers (and versions)

Martin Lauridsen (1211211) | asked Nov 11 '11, 3:37 a.m.
Dear all,

I have been given the task to upgrade our RTC and RQM installations from v. 2.x to v. 3.0.1. Currently, the servers are on two seperate machines with each their JTS server and each their database (using tomcat, db2 and LDAP). That means, they both have different hosts, but both use the standard port and the /jazz context root.

What I would like now, is to first install the new version of CCM (RTC) + JTS v. 3.x on a new machine, and then make sure afterwards all data from the old RTC v. 2.x installation is moved to the new server so no data is missing (I am not familiar myself with actually using RTC, so I am not sure what 'data' means, but I refer to users, dashboard data, etc.).

After this is done, I would like to, of course, do the same with RQM, i.e. moving it to yet another server with its own JTS, move the data, etc.

I have been reading through the documentation a lot (for about 5 full working days), and it has got me a bit more confused I think.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

edit: I am aware that of course the URI must stay the same. I will make sure of this, by mapping the old hosts to the new IP adresses.
