LDAP Enabled User ID EMail address read-only

derry davis (23221916) | asked Nov 04 '11, 6:19 p.m.
We have a need to change the email address on an RTC user that has been imported from LDAP. The email address field displays as read-only in both the web and Eclipse client. Is there a setting to make this field read-write? Or another process for changing email addresses on user accounts in RTC, such as using repotools export / import functionality?
Thanks in advance,
Derry

The repotools -createuser command does allow you to override the email address that's stored in LDAP, however the nightly LDAP sync task will overwrite the value you've entered with that in LDAP. While it's possible to disable the nightly sync, this will obviously affect other users.

If you're unable to update the user account in the backing LDAP server, one option would be to use a translucent LDAP proxy to override the values returned by the underlying LDAP server.

This isn't supported by IBM however I setup an instance with this configuration last week and didn't see any issues with it.

Hi Derry,

the e-mail address is maintained in LDAP, therefore you need to do the change in LDAP. The nightly sync will bring the change over to RTC.
