Is there a way to hide/mask RAM version information

Dana Gantt (642) | asked Sep 28 '11, 3:16 p.m.
Is there any way to globally hide the RAM version in the web search results and the asset detail display? The RAM version creates confusion with our user base who assume that the RAM version is the same as our Vendor or Software version that we capture with certain types of artifacts. Since the RAM version is used for internal use by RAM and not to represent the customer versions, it would be very useful to mask it from being displayed to groups of our end users instead of be embedded as part of the Asset Name in brackets.

Not sure that I follow - the (RAM) asset version should represent your Vendor/Software version. You can then search for a particular version, or have a life cycle that manage the existence (or not) of multiple versions etc.

You can create a policy that sync the asset version with that of your artifact (assuming there is a programmatic manner to extract it)

There is no functionality to globally hide versions in RAM. Many customers consider the version an important piece of information when viewing an asset, but maybe this does not fit your use case.

When you update the asset do you always keep the same version number? Is there no need for multiple versions of assets in your use case? Would you find it more useful to have version numbers on artifacts? Can you update the version number to match the vendor or software version? Any more information you can give about the type of assets your storing and why version numbers do not make sense for those assets would be helpful. Thanks.
