can't download RTC images from china

yi lilo (4665) | asked Jun 30 '08, 3:48 a.m.
Hi All,
I don't know how all of you can get these RTC images from jazz.net, the speed is awful for users in china. I have tried many times through different networks/PCs and always failed. It seems jazz.net only provide single process download and the connection will be aborted after 3-4 hours. the download speed was only about 2K--10K.
Can anybody improve this situation? I suggest ftp and multiple process download are necessary. you guys said this is a open-source project, why can't it work in the same way as Apache or Eclipse?

Hi

Just as a comparison - what download speed are you getting from other sites at your location?

We understand that is is difficult to get a successful download with
speeds like 10KB/s.

For clarification: None of the downloads available from the download
page (https://jazz.net/downloads/rational-team-concert/releases/1.0)are
under an open source license. Neither the Jazz technology nor the RTC
product editions are open source.

Hello Lilo, sorry for the trouble you've been having with downloading.

Our download server is in Toronto and I think the distance and connection between you and are the sources of the problem. I will look into ways we can fix this, including the ones you suggested.

you guys said this is a open-source project

Just to be clear, Jazz is *not* an open source project, although we certainly do try to develop Jazz-based technology with similar transparency to an open source project.

However, the fact that we are not an open source project doesn't give us an excuse that our download doesn't work for one of our community members, So I will see what I can do.

Hi Lilo

I am sorry you don't seem to be able to complete a download from your location. One thing you might try is to contact your local IBM office and the Rational folks there should be able to help.

Another idea is to check which version you are downloading. There should be a version which is a complete zip file, then you can use tools that allow you to resume downloading if the connection breaks in some way.

You need to grab the ZIP files here:
https://jazz.net/downloads/rational-team-concert/releases/1.0?p=allDownloads
- not the Installation Manager version.

That might work better than the Installation Manager accessing jazz.net to grab the rest of the application.

Also - just to clarify, RTC is not actually an open source project.
