Jazz Team Server as Build Server?

Masha Krol (111) | asked Jun 26 '08, 11:17 a.m.
Hello all,

I've got my Jazz Team server running on a separate machine, and it seems to have the Build System Toolkit available (deducing this from being able to run "jbe"). Is there any problem with running builds on the server that is my Team server?

Thanks in advance,
Masha

There is nothing that will prevent the two from running successfully on the
same machine. However, builds can be very resource intensive as they
compile, run tests, etc. It's probably better to allow the Jazz server to
have use of those resources to get the best performance. We generally
recommend installing the build system on it's own machine for production
use. There is a zip/install available that includes just the build system.

Technically it will work. However, it is not recommended because an
executing build can consume a lot of cpu and cause alot of disk io, and have
a detrimental effect on the repository server performance.

So, I would not do it for a production environment. If you are just kicking
the tires and checking things out, it may be ok.
