Integrating RTC3.0 with IDA 7.5

Hi all,

We need/want to use RTC 3.0iFix with IDA (InfoSphere Data Architect) 7.5.3.1 However, we fail in all different ways of installing them together in one package (Installation Manager, P2 install, extending the RTC Eclipse Client with IDA).

Is there anybody out there (succesfully) using these tools together? Any tips?

Thanks!

Ulf

Which Eclipse version does IDA use? If it is 3.4 like other 7.5.x tools
(RAD, RSA, etc...) it is not possible. Just RTC 2.0.x can be used.

Hi

IDA supports an earlier version of Eclipse (3.4.x) - and RTC 3 requires 3.5 or greater. You could use RTC 2 with IDA, or use another RTC shell to access the files from RDA. Yet another alternative is to use the commandline.

Thanks, Chemi and Anthony.

We have been able to work with other IBM tools that were based on all kinds of versions of Eclipse (e.g. 3.4, 3.5 and 3.6) by using the p2 installer of RTC 3.0., also with tools that normally only support RTC 2.0. In the case of IDA however this doesn't work for some reason.

As all other IBM tools we are using support RTC 3.0 we want to migrate our RTC server from 2.0 to 3.0. Therefor using RTC 2.0 with IDA isn't an option. The command line is no option at all...

I'll see if I can find a place to ask when IDA will be supporting RTC 3.0. I guess it's about time, as RTC 3.0 is GA for quite a while now. These different versions and incompatibilities really give us headaches (and are very frustrating).

Thanks again for your comments however.

Best regards,

Ulf

If it helps - I have another set of IDA users desperate to use IDA with RTC v3. At least you are not the only person very frustrated!

I see IDA 7.6 is just out - and still seems to use Eclipse 3.4.2 (http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=3668&uid=swg27021599#Windows_Eclipse_sw) so I'm guessing we still need to use an old RTC client (i.e. v2.0.x) in order to shell share with IDA.

Is that right?

Cheers, Scott.
