New at RTC...Creating HTML Links in Description?

Ray Jender (2122) | asked Mar 17 '11, 9:08 a.m.
I am creating tasks in RTC and I'd like to be able to create hyperlinks within the Description.

How to?

Thanks,

Ray

I think we understand each other ... you can make a section of the RTC
work item description active, where clicking on that section will take
you to the page referenced by the URL of that active section. But one
cannot modify/customize the display of that active section (it always is
the URL, underlined and highlighted in color).

Whether or not that means "hyperlinks are allowed in the Description
field" is not something we need to agree on (:-).

Geoff

I couldn't figure how to show a different text for the URL.

Hi Ray,

which client are you using? I just checked the web client. When you
edit> the description, you get a rich editor which has a
little icon "man with chain" in the upper right corner.
Hitting that icon you will see the options for adding link, work
item
link or external link.

Is that what you are looking for?

If you type http://xxxxxx in a description, RTC will pick up that
this is an external link and mark it as such. In Eclipse this
happens
instantly, in the web editor you need to save before it is
recognized
as link.

I am using Eclipse. I have a lot of hyperlinks in a word document
that I'd like to import into the Description area of the Task.
Can
I do that easily?

Thanks again.

Ray

Well, there doesn't seem to be a solution so I am temporarily adding
the hyperlinks as artifacts. It's somewhat time consuming though.
I'd much rather be able to cut and past hyperlinks into the
Description.

Ray

The issue is Hyperlinks. When I cut or copy a Hyperlink then paste
into the Description area of Ecllipse, it pastes as text only with no
link.

Ray

Yea, I am aware of how to do that. I guess the real answer is
Hyperlinks are not allowed in the Description area.
