Database Question

Hello,

I am teaching a class this week on Jazz and a few of my students have a
good bit of experience supporting ClearQuest. When I was covering
material on repotools, they were interested on what performance tweaks
needed to be made for DB2 and Oracle Databases. When I told them that
there weren't any tweaks from my knowledge that needed to be done, they
didn't believe me. They insist that deferent performance tweaks need to
be made based on how the schema is being used.

So I am turning to the Jazz Community. Has anyone found that they need
to perform any tweaks on the database? All of the performance tweaks I
know are on the J2EE Container JVM side (increase memory). If not, maybe
someone from development can talk about how the design of Jazz makes
performance different from that of Clearquest.

Thanks!

Repotools tweaks various DB settings when it creates the tables. In
addition see http://coltrane.raleigh.ibm.com/jazz/index.jsp?topic=/
com.ibm.team.install.doc/topics/c_plan_database_db2.html for a setting
you need to tweak manually.

Thank you for the information. There is only information for DB2 not
Oracle in this section of the help. I can't find much information about
DB2_OPTPROFILE beyond that when you set it you "enable optimization
guidelines processing by the optimizer." When should one apply this
optimization?

Thanks!

Yes, the configuration for oracle is outlined at http://
coltrane.raleigh.ibm.com/jazz/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.team.install.doc/
topics/t_server_installation_setup_oracle.html

SCM specifies optimization guidelines to DB2 when executing queries. You
should enable this option when installing to take advantage of it.
Otherwise DB2 ignores the optimization guidelines.
