I was going over my iteration plan and decided to move a Story from the current iteration back onto the Product Backlog. We had already done some planning for the story, so there were Tasks with estimates targeted for the current iteration.
When I changed the parent to be Planned For the Product Backlog, its child Tasks did not get replanned along with it. I had to go into each of them and move them to the Product Backlog. Is this something that should work as expected (please say "yes") or can it at least be configured to work this way when using the Scrum process template? |

The behavior differs depending on how you reassign the work back to the
product backlog. If you change the planned for attribute in either the work item editor or by using the iteration plan editor's context menu then only the parent work item is reassign. If you D&D the story back to the product backlog all work items are reassign. If you want to use the context menu you can always multi select and reassign all work items at once. Sorry to be dense here... but I'm having trouble figuring out where to drag FROM and where to drop TO. Am I dragging from the iteration plan "Planned Items" tab? Am I dropping on the Team Artifacts tab (this combo isn't working by the way :-)

You need to configure your workspace so that both plans are visible. I'll try to describe, though there is nothing like seeing it happen.
Open both plans in the editor. Click and hold one of the tabs and drag it towards the bottom of the window. When you near the bottom, you should see a large rectangle appear that indicates where it will put the tab if you let it go. Let it go. Now both plans should be visible, one in the top half, one in the bottom half of the editor area. |
Your instructions worked perfectly! Thanks!
