License comsumption with Eclipse
Does starting up a development environment (RSA, RAD, etc.) that has a connection configured to RAM consume a RAM license, even if RAM isn't used?
Thank you, Charles |
One answer
Probably yes. Just logging in doesn't use a floating license. If the
user was assigned a non-floating license then that is consumed on login. If they are not assigned a non-floating then a floating license will be used when it is required. Typical use of a floating license would be to look at the details of an asset. But the RAM Rich client automatically syncs up assets between the client and the host upon login so a floating license will most likely be consumed immediately because of this sync up. The sync up would require downloading the asset details, which requires a license. Rich |
