How can I hook the work item link open action in IDE?

Will West (2145) | asked Jul 08 '10, 3:39 p.m.
I have a linktype that links a workitem to an external object. The link is to the http(s):// URL of that object. When that link is "opened" from the work item links page of the work item editor in Eclipse, it opens in the browser. I want to hook the open action and open up a custom editor we have for that object inside Eclipse IDE.

How can I override that action?

EDIT: by "opened" I mean double-clicked or selected and then the "Open" button is pressed
