ClearCase Synchronized Stream wizard - Wrong User ?
We're setting up a ClearCase Synchronized Stream.
I have created a userID - ccadmin - that have ClearCase admin rights and now I want to create the sync stream. On the Jazz Source Control main menu, click File > New > Other, then expand Jazz Source Control and click ClearCase Synchronized Stream to start the New ClearCase Synchronized Stream wizard. For some reason, the ClearCase userID (prefilled) is not my 'ccadmin' ID I logged on with. It's the ID I use to log on to our domain / PC with. I tried logging on to RTC with different RTC ID's, but the ClearCase Synchronized Stream wizard defaults to my domain / PC userID. As far as I know, this can not be changed later on, so I'm kinda stuck. Did I miss anything ? |

The synchronized stream remembers who you were logged in to your OS
(which is what ClearCase cares about) when you created the synchronized stream. It stores that OS user name as a property on the synchron9zed stream, so it can give you a warning if you run the synch engine as a different OS user by mistake. If you want to run the synch engine as a different OS user on purpose, open the ClearCase Synchronized Streams view, right click on that sync stream, and select Properties. Go to the ClearCase tab, and modify the CLEARCASE_LOGIN_NAME property to be the name of the OS user that you will be running the sync engine as. The warning about "wrong ClearCase user" will then go away. If you were logged in to your OS as the ccadmin user when you create your synchronized stream, it will initialize that property to be the ccadmin user. In general, we recommend that you be logged in to the OS as the sync engine user when you create a synchronized stream, since the sync stream creation wizard does various checks that this user is authorized to access the specified ClearCase branches and labels. Note: I do not believe this is made sufficiently clear in the on-line documentation of the CC Synchronizer. I will submit a work item to get this improved. Thank you for pointing out this issue!
