SCM reshare without an Eclipse project

Tom Frauenhofer (1.3k58435) | asked Jan 06 '10, 10:53 p.m.
Using RTC 2.0.0.2

I have loaded a component into an alternate sandox and chose the " ...do
not create eclipse projects".

I then realized that I needed to alter the MIME attributes of the some
of the files in that component.

So, my first problem was: Without an Eclipse project I had no way (that
I knew) to get at the RTC-isms of individual files (e.g. MIME
attributes). Perhaps there's a way to have Eclipse show an arbitrary
folder and hence let me do right-click- > Team -> Jazz Source Control
->. etc etc ?

OK, so then I decided to disconnect that 'sandbox/folder' (without
deleting it) and then reload the component elsewhere, this time as a
real Eclipse project.

I then fixed the MIME attributes and checked-in the changes.

Now, I really want to get those changes into the component folders back
in its original sandbox.

How do I re-connect a sandbox/folder that isn't an Eclipse project ? A
re-share requires an Eclipse project doesn't it ? Something to
right-click against.

Any help appreciated
Cheers

David,

There is currently no way in the Eclipse GUI to share content that is
not an Eclipse project. The only alternatives I can think of are that
you could either import the folder as a project temporarily so you can
share it or you could use the CLI.

Hi Michael

Are there any plans to decouple the RTC folder GUI from the Eclipse
project world ?

Just curious if 3.0 might add some function here

Dave

We have discussed this in the past but I do not believe it is on the 3.0
plan but the plan is not finalized. I did a quick search and couldn't
find a work item for this so you may want to go ahead and enter one.

This is probably an instance of work item 59148 "Implement a variant of
the current Eclipse RTC client so it can act as an SCM GUI for
non-Eclipse developers".

Cheers,
Geoff
