Problems installing 2.0.0.2 into RAD 7.5.4/5

David Davies (20612713) | asked Jan 05 '10, 5:23 a.m.
Hi guys

Been playing with 2.0.0.2 in test and we really like the new enhancements. I am trying to update the TC plugin in our RAD environments but everytime we try we are getting the following error.

Any ideas?

Cheers

David

Update failed.
Error during "complete" phase:
The bundle "com.ibm.help.common.accessibility.doc_7.6.0.v20091027_2017" cannot be installed in this Eclipse configuration because it is not equivalent to the bundle "com.ibm.help.common.accessibility.doc_7.5.0.v20080701" that is already installed.

Hi David

Does RTC 2.0.0.2 actually work afterwards, or does it back out the whole install?

Hi Anthony

The whole update/install failed and rolled back.

I uninstalled 2.0.0.1 and then tried to install the new one and after the error I am left with no Jazz perspective in RAD.

cheers

Hi all

I am working with a team with RTC 2.0.0.0 installed, and they are looking to move to the latest 2.0.0.2. Their clients are generally Windows XP, servers are RHL.

Can they leave some users on the 2.0.0.0 client, or do they need to upgrade all clients at the same time as the server?

As a followup - assuming they can leave some clients at 2.0.0.0 - how can we work out what functionality they will lose from 2.0.0.2?

thanks

Yes, 2.0.0.2 clients will be compatible with a 2.0.0.0 server and vice-
versa.

To see the changes in the new versions, you can go to the download page
for that release and click on the "New & Noteworthy" link. Here is the

Whoops - sorry David - I thought I had started a new thread.

I have RSx 7.5.4 on my machine - let me see if I can load 2.0.0.2 there and let you know how I get on.

Hi David

Ok - I have just installed RTC 2.0.0.2 into RSA Std Edition 7.5.4 using the installation manager (I had to uninstall some other tools from RSA - which is why it took a while). However, once I pointed installation manager to RSA - everything installed cleanly and it all works just fine.

RSA is a superset of RAD, so it should all work unless RSA adds in some extra libraries relevant to the problem.

So - back to the square one - it does appear possible to do, just not on your setup.

I am running XP SP2, RSA 7.5.4 and now RTC 2.0.0.2 in the RSA shell.

Vague thought - did you try and do a -clean on RAD before you tried to install RTC? I believe the installation manager does this anyway, but worth doing again.

Hi Anthony

I have just tried to do the same in RSA 7.5.4 and I get the same error. Did you install it into the same package?? ( default IBM\SDP ). I can get it to install using a new package group but obviously it is then not visible in RSA

cheers

I knew I should have taken screenshots as I went along! As I recall, I used the Installation Manager to do a fresh install (I actually downloaded the web-install version of 2.0.0.2 - which is really just IM and some parameters - to force it to grab the code from jazz.net). At one point in the IM dialogs, it finds all the Eclipse shells it could install into, and I installed into the SDP shell (which is where I put RSA).

Any chance you have other plugins (even IBM ones) that could be interfering here? Otherwise, it might be worth uninstalling RAD completely, and installing from scratch.

Can't remember if you have logged this as a defect here on jazz.net or via the normal support channel, that should help us fix this a little faster.
