Where is the platform log? What directory is being written to?

 scm command gives

An exception occurred while writing to the platform log: and java.io.IOException: EDC5133I No space left on device.
And a stack trace,
No indication of which log or directory is being written to.
All the likely suspects have space and writable permissions......

It turns out that in addition to the documented environment variables,  SCM_WORK documents a target for configuration ? install? files.   It needs to point to a directory with space or, good luck figuring it out.
