Filter master test data by test plan

Jordan Binns (111) | asked Jun 03 '20, 8:24 a.m.

 Hi all,

Is it possible to set record selection criteria for test data based on the test plan it is included in?

I work for a company that produces conveyor systems. Each individual conveyor has number of tests to run for that conveyor so there is are common test scripts across all conveyors. Currently, the system is commissioned in sections and each section has its own test plan. What is the best way to structure this so that:
  • Test script is reusable without changes
  • There is a master test data file across the whole system
  • Test data can be filtered based on the section of the system the test plan is relevant to
Thanks in advance!

Hello Jordan,

There is  an option to filter Test Data rows at runtime (Select Records from Test Data), but there is no option to filter by Test Plan. Maybe you can add Test Plan as a first column in your test data file. That way at run time, the users can filter on Test Plan column and choose the rows they want.

Hope that helps!
