Impact of removing Planned for attribute from workitems

vinay kumar bondugula (7312563) | asked May 12 '20, 9:36 a.m.

 Hi All,

Our development team defined a custom attribute "Target Version" in all project areas and updating both Target Version and Planned For attributes for all workitems. Now one of the team decided to remove one attribute because they want to avoid duplicates within one workitem. Before removing the attribute from the workitem type, I would like to know will that be having any impact on the plans or in any other way. Please share your suggestions.

Thanks,
Vinay

Plans are basically based on this attribute and will not work any longer, many reports and built in queries won't work any more. It is usually best to use the built in capabilities to your advantage.

I have however seen too many cases where customization was counter productive at best. I can only assume someone did not understand how EWM/RTC works and came up with an "Requirement" that implements a duplicate of something that is already there wich will severely damage EWM useability. Good luck.
