Getting Process Description into DOORS NG?

Mary Miller (87124) | asked Nov 18 '19, 10:47 a.m.

Good day,

I know some of you guys have a Process Description for DOORS NG.  I was looking at building off of an old template from IBM back when DOORS NG was called Composer:  http://walderson.com/IBM/Practices/ScalingAgile/practice.tech.rqmts_mgmt.base-ibm/guidances/examples/requirements_management_process_description_2CC0DE37.html

Given the format, it doesn't look like this would translate well into the Process Description functionality in the tool (in the Project Area).  The Process Description for DOORS NG has no rich text availability.  How are you guys using the Process Description functionality of DOORS NG?

Sincerely,

Mary

Hi Mary,

Good Day

Have you looked at the following web site?

https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/rational-solution-process-assets

It doesn't use the Process Description but enables you load a specific set of methods which you could with investment edit etc. You can expand this solution to link to work items in RTC;  so you can plan the activities etc. and then link out to the method deployed on the server.

However I think you will need License " IBM Rational Method Composer or IBM Rational Method Composer Content Reader licenses."

This is the next level above using the "Process Descriptions" in say DNG or RTC etc.

I have used the process descriptions in a "Generic Process" project area as you can then re-use these across all projects see article https://jazz.net/library/article/690

I hope this helps?

Matt

I was not able to follow the links (i.e. the steps did not compute).  However, I did find what I am looking for under "Managing process descriptions and practices" in DOORS NG help.

I discovered the problem was that I did not go far enough when creating the Process Description in DOORS NG.  I was expecting to see all parts of the GUI I needed to fill out right away.  I was not expecting to see additional parts of a GUI (requiring inputs) as I saved.  In short, it was not intuitive.  However, I think I have what I need now.

Thanks!

Mary
