Rqm-Merge configuration

Preetha T (27224) | asked Dec 06 '18, 9:45 a.m.

While merging test cases for the particular attribute from one stream to another stream we have to create test plan for the selected test cases and then we have to create baseline for that test plan. If any new test cases is added and if we want to merge in other stream it is mandatory to create baseline?

Example: we need selected test cases for the particular supplier Bosch and that selected test cases we want to move to other stream. Is there any possibility to achieve this.

In RQM you are not allowed to accept/merge changes directly from a stream to another stream, since the source stream's content can be modified at any time during the merge. Thus, to merge a 'stable' state of the stream, you'll first have to create a baseline in the source stream.  A baseline captures the entire state of the stream's content at that moment. You can now use that baseline as the source configuration to merge to another stream.

Test cases are separate artifacts from test plans. You can just merge/accept individual test cases from the baseline to another stream (target). To achieve that, you will need to perform 'Custom' configuration merge. This gives you the flexibility to only accept certain items and not all of the changes (differences) from the source configuration. When you accept a test case to the target stream, the test case's dependent referenced artifacts, like execution records will also be accepted to the target.

Please note that when you merge artifacts from one configuration to another, it's not a copy. It's still the same artifact, but only a version of the artifact is created in the stream. You can open the 'Versions' tab of that artifact in any stream to see all of its versions and also see the flow of changes when merges were performed.

 Thanks for your support Lam!!

The User requirement is they want to filter the test cases by technology , supplier or feature that filtered content they want to move it into new project stream. Now the current capability is to move the entire content to another stream.

For e.g In Gasoline stream we have filtered options like technology and supplier.
Suppose if the user selects filter option for the technology MPfi with the selected supplier bosch they want to move it into another stream.

If we create project stream suppose s201 project stream created from gasoline all test cases in gasoline will move to S201 project stream but we want that filtered content only in project stream. is there any possibility to do  this.
