Is it possible to scrub Data-Mart data from the DCC database?

Georg Kellner (840481109) | asked Nov 15 '17, 10:17 a.m.

We've made a mistake in configuring the DCC collection jobs, so the data-mart data collection ran every our, which obviously results in a slightly big database.
(DB size ~300 GB, RICALM and RIDW ~180 GB)

Is it possible to delete unneeded data-mart data from the database or to reindex this kind of data to stop the daba growing fast?

I've rescheduled the jobs to run only once a day.

Greetings Georg.

Hi Georg,

Yes, it is definitely not a good idea to run data-mart data collection every hour. Perhaps they will not finish and these jobs get jammed.

However, it should not affect the database size, as data in data-mart is cleared every time before new data-mart jobs run. Data-mart data is not an incremental, but re-calculated every time it runs.

Make sure to run the "Data Cleanup" and "Delete Fact table Data" job in data-mart. So the old data should be clean up and reduce the size of database. It could be that the increase in database size is caused by increase in archive log files in database. Check with your DBA.
