Why are 2 RTC work items in separate RTC project areas created with the same work item ID?
We are currently on RTC 6.0.1. We have noticed 2 work items with the same work item ID 62336 have been created. I am under the assumption that every work item ID is unique. They are in 2 different project areas. Work Item A is a custom work item type and Work Item B is a story work item. When performing searches in top right corner, this leads to being directed to Work Item A. Work Item A was created July 9, 2017 and Work Item B was created one day later on July 10, 2017. Any reasoning why these two work items were able to created with the same ID?

FORUM ADMINISTRATOR / FORUM MODERATOR / JAZZ DEVELOPER That would be a very surprising and serious bug. Please work with IBM support to get it fixed.
Just to confirm, this is the built-in work item ID property ... not some custom ID property?
If you construct a URL that references the work item by ID
(i.e. something like; https://jazz.net/jazz/resource/itemName/com.ibm.team.workitem.WorkItem/409721 )
what happens when you enter that URL in a browser?

That's not supposed to be possible.
Are you sure that both project areas are on the same repository? If you have a test server or a staging server or a sandbox server or something like that, those work items will have their own identifier.
Maybe another possibility would be if the RTC index is corrupted or something. I didn't think the work item IDs were one of the things that could be screwed up by indexing problems though so that doesn't seem likely.
