License and Session Timeouts for Dashboards

Alick Banda (43418) | asked Jun 19 '17, 11:08 a.m.

 Good day,

In our environment, we have the entire CLM 6.0 (dm, rm, ccm, qm) deployed

We have a use case were we have a service account created for the sole purpose of displaying dashboards (and their widgets) on a huge monitor for the entire team to gain visibility on the work currently being done (as well as other information that we would like our teams to view at a glance).

The challenge we face is that the licenses are set to timeout after about 30 minutes, and the user is logged off. We then have to manually log in to have the dashboard (s) available on sight. Is there a way of having a specific user (or service account) logged on for the entire day (or not log off at all), and from time to time, have an auto refresh (so that the details on the dashboards more or less current)?

If anyone has an alternative to this challenge, suggestions are welcome.

Thank you very much.

Best Regards,

Alick

Have you considered installing an auto refresh plug-in for the browser on the machine you are using to display the dashboards?  For example see http://www.guidingtech.com/12491/auto-refresh-pages-chrome-firefox-opera/

How did you determine that your service account user gets logged off because of the license time-out?
Floating and token licenses are returned (checked in) to JTS License server after 30 minutes, but that does not result in the user getting logged out. As soon as your service account performs an action that requires a license, the applications checks out a license again (assuming one is available) and can continue working.

So think you are running in a session timeout due to inactivity, which depends on your application server (Tomcat, WAS) settings.
