Lifecycle Query Engine Functionality

Aaron Cabrera (451318) | asked Apr 21 '17, 3:20 p.m.

Our team is researching LQE.  Our environment is CLM 6.0.2 (RTC, RQM, RRC, JRS, RRDI) and have not turned on CM or GCM.  We are looking at upgrading to 6.0.3 or 6.0.4 in fall.

Does anyone know of a list of functionality that we might gain if we implement LQE. A list of Important functionality we might be missing out on if we don't implement LQE?

Pros and Cons of implementing LQE?

The main reason to turn on LQE is that you want to do reporting with JRS Report Builder or use RELM views with versioned data after enabling configuration management in RDNG or RQM (you can report across all of the CE/CLM applications with data in LQE).

LQE is an alternate data source for JRS RB reports (and the only data source for RELM).

It is possible to use RDNG and RQM with configuration management enabled even if you don't turn on LQE. You can even generate documents with Rational Publishing Engine.  You just won't have the ability to report via JRS RB or RELM, or use dashboard widgets that get their data from JRS RB or RELM.  Once configuration management is enabled, RDNG and RQM no longer send data to the built-in data warehouse (which is JRS RB's other data source).

And the primary "con" of LQE is that you need another server with some storage and a relatively beefy amount of RAM.

Hello,

So if you are not using RELM or Configuration, is there a need for LQE? I ask because we installed it, it ran fine...and we tried the this:

And LQE log file went to 26+GB and stopped the server. If we are not configured for RELM or Global Config, should this have been running?

thanks

Hello Mahari,

without RELM or Global Configuration, LQE is not required (unless you need LQE specific reporting functionalities that are not provided by the data warehouse data source).

This (slightly outdated) decision tree can help you:
