Use of NTP Server in Distributed SCM Scenario

Is a common NTP server needed (or recommended) when using a Distributed SCM environment where the respective RTC (5.0.2+) servers are at separate locations?  I'm thinking not, but I want to confirm my suspicions.

Eric, you should set all your Jazz servers to use an NTP server so they are synchronized, they should never stagger more than 5 seconds. Take a look at this technote:

The NTP use by Jazz is for informational purpose only [ at least to my knowledge ].  I know it cannot ( should not ) alter system time.    Timestamps are internalized as 'Z' time.   Use NTP server relative to the server location.
