Why does the warning 'Owner does not belong to Team Area' appear for some users (Member of Project area ) but not others ( Members of same Project area) in a workitem whose filed-against "category = unassigned" is inherited from the project area?

Why does the warning 'Owner does not belong to Team Area' appear for some users (Member of Project area ) but not others ( Members of same Project area) in a workitem whose filed-against "category = unassigned" is inherited from the project area?

-->who are all not getting warning message ,they are listed in "owned by "(contributor)"
--> who are all getting warning message they are not listed in  "owned by "(contributor)" , we have to serach and add them manually

--> Both type users are added into Project area level
--> unassigned ( root) category mapped with Project area

Update:
I found a defect that supposedly fixed the problem in version 5.0.2, iFix016. Fix Central has iFix021 available for download.
I'm in the process of updating a test system to see if it really corrects the problem.

Fix Central: https://www-945.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/swg/selectFixes?parent=ibm~Rational&product=ibm/Rational/Rational+Collaborative+Lifecycle+Management+Solution&release=All&platform=All&function=all

Work Item Owner is reported as outside of team area.

I believe the validator only matches the user in the contributor list that is initially loaded in the GUI. Do you have many users in that project area? If it always load all the users in a given project area, it can be very slow if the project area has huge number of users. The design may be flawed, but it's just a warning. We had a similar discussion in the past.

I'm having the same problem after an upgrade from CLM 3.0.1.1 to 5.0.2.

OS: RHEL 6.7

WebSphere: 8.5.5

Steps taken to try and solve the warning problem (no luck):

1. Categories:

Unassigned <Root Category> -> associated to Project (Displays as: <Project

         - Sub to root: Project -> associated it to the Team.

2. There are 88 members in the project and team area.

3. When assigning an owner to a work item, the pull down list only shows 50 people.

4. I'm able to type a name of a person not on the list, but the warning "Owner does not belong to the Team Area" appears next to the owners name.

5. If I add someone from the list, no warning appears.

6. Removed everyone from the project and team. Then added 50 people to project and team.

7. Added owner to work item from pull down list, no warning.

9. Added a new person to the project and team, but they do not show up on the pull down list. Added the new person to the work item; warning appears.

Summary: It looks like there is a limit of 50 people that can be in a team. Users are annoyed by the warning.

Any help in solving this problem is very appreciative. Thank you.

These do not solve the problem either:

Status: Still happening as of 4 Oct 2016. Any solutions?

It's a compromise, and I don't think there will be "solution". If the contributor list is not capped, you will see severe performance issue when loading the editor if there are many contributors and a few contributor list type attributes are in the editor. Now the list is capped, and the performance can be guaranteed, but you now get an annoying warning when the list contains more than 50 contributors. It's just a warning though, and should not prevent you from saving the work item.

This is confusing, APAR PI60807 (http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1PI60807) and Maintenance task 391660 (https://jazz.net/jazz/resource/itemName/com.ibm.team.workitem.WorkItem/391660) state that a fix is available in RTC 6.0.3.  We are running 6.0.3 and the issue is still showing up for us.  Should we open a new PMR or was it determined that the fix was to not change anything?  How is the list of 50 contributors selected?  It doesn't appear to be alphabetical as the user who is running into the issue is the 3rd in the team member list...

Thanks,
Jamie.
