Do we need to tie an RTC PA with an RRC PA (& RQM PA) via an ALP for the 2 ways links towards traceability?

Had always thought we need to have an All Lifecycle Project with RTC, RRC, RQM PA's components to create 2-way links between any two of the last 3 towards a traceability model (left illustration).

The successful use of links illustrated on the right found here is a big surprise: The majority of the links are between the RTC PA component, OriSin(CM), of ALP Adam; and the RRC PA component, Eva(rm), of the ALP Eva and they are working without any apparent issue.

What extra does the ALP bring to a properly implemented traceability model?

TRaceability as thought vs current implementation

Please note, that there are different types of links ans some require to be configured and others don't. See https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Deployment/MultipleCCMAppsUserPerspective and https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Deployment/PlanForMultipleJazzAppInstances for a bit more information. In a Lifecycle Project the provider relationship for links is created.

 Thx Ralph,

Both yours and Don's answers help us understand the subject better, have to choose only 1 right, choose yours as it answered a lot of our puzzles around this subject and didn't know where to look for infos.

Still have one question though, probably due to lack of experience: Using associations in webUI, would we be able to have CLM links to&from more than one CCM (or RM, or QM) project areas?

And are there manual ways to do so with a Lifecycle Project in Eclipse client, which only allows the setup of each ALP with one PA per each application (CCM, RM, or QM)

A lifecycle project does not have any magic, it simply brings convenience. See the discussion in the below post.

Maybe I misunderstood your issue, particularly regarding "all lifecycle project" and "2-way links". If true, can you please elaborate?
