Custom attributes - do they really disappear when removed?

Hi,

I've been exploring the custom attributes in RTC and found something interesting - when I removed one and then tried to add one with the same ID, it said that ID was already taken. Can anyone provide insight as to what happens when a custom attribute is removed, and why this is?

Thanks,

Simon

To add a little on what Marcel said, you can reuse an attribute again with a different NAME or change the LABEL in your presentations as long as the TYPE for your new intended attribute matches. In other words, you can not change the ID and TYPE, if you are reusing an attribute.

Hi
The configuration in the project area describes which attributes a newly created work item will have. Removing an attribute from the configuration thus affects only items created afterwards.
Existing items will still have this attribute, therefore it is not removed from the repository.

The consequence is that you can not add a new attribute with the same ID, but you could reuse an attribute that you removed once before using the 'reuse' option in the 'add attribute' dialog.
