Applying changes to the existing work items which are created from the Template after updating the same Template

Sajjad Ali Khan (314152) | asked Sep 13 '15, 6:31 a.m.
I'm using CLM 5.0.2 and i have a customize work-item of Change Request, in change request i have some specific attributes which i need to set one time then they will apply on to the all future Change Requests so for this requirement i create a Template.

But the problem i'm facing is in maintenance of template as i need to change some information in template and want to apply those changes on the Change Requests which are not closed, for the new Change Requests there is no problem but for the existing Change Request i'm not able to modify the information unless i go to each Change Request one by one and update the information which i really don't want to do.

I hope you understand my issue, please reply me i'm urgently looking for the workaround of this issue

Ah...I misread your post. The concept is still the same though. Once a work item is created, regardless based on a work item template or not, it has no linkage to the template any more, so you can't "apply the template" to existing work items. Depending on the type of attribute, you may be able to do a "bulk update" on the work items to save your time - run a work item query to show the work items that you want to change values, and click on the icon "Edit Multiple Work Items". If the attribute can be bulk updated, you will see a green cross in the heading.

I think i didn't correctly wrote my issue; i'm asking about Change Request Work item Template NOT Process Template

You have to modify the project area directly, not the template. Once the project area is created, it has no linkage to the template any more. Similar questions have been asked before.
