Can we consider the states of Planned Items in a Kanban View of an Iteration Plan?

Hi all,
We were wondering if we could customize the workflow of User Stories in order to reflect the different states it takes us to complete one.
We'd like to be able to define some sort of Kanban like view that only displays Planned Items (or User Stories) and that doesn't take in consideration Execution Items (Tasks and Defects).
So it would show each group of states to which the User Stories states were assigned in our custom workflow.
We tried to implement it but it seems at first sight that the Kanban view only deals with Executions items.
Did someone find a way to do that?
Please note that we're using RTC 4.0.3.
Thanks!

This is what we're trying to achieve for User Stories

Could you please check which display type you used in the plan view?

According to https://jazz.net/forum/questions/78868/how-to-display-user-story-workflow-as-state-column-to-the-taskboard-in-web-client, the taskboard view shows the plan items in the left however In 4.0 we have the Kanban view which shows all items on the plan (plan items or execution items).

So RTC 4.0.3 should have Kanban view supported.
In my RTC 4.0.6 the Kanban view works.
