Unable to patch binary file

I have created a patch from workspace 1, and want to apply it into workspace 2. 
For some reason RTC does not recognize the target file as a text file and therefor this error is thrown while merging it into the target workspace:

Unable to patch binary file

I have already set the MIME type for all .egl files (extension of our files) to text/plain
